Like the post title sez, this is the last page of the current story, “Tongue-tied.”

After this I am taking a week off so I can concentrate on Stumptown and a job interview. The new story will start on Monday, May 5.

Page 22 appears in glorious black and white, because I ran out of time to slap RGB on it tonight. So it goes. I prefer to have these pages in color. If I don’t, I just have to colorize it for the print collections.

Poor Chloe.

I’m happy to get another color page up on time. I still need to get my lettering approach down. As soon as I get our tax return, I’m gonna splurge on TypeTool to create my own font. Unless someone knows of a good open source font creator.

Either way, it’s long past due. I really enjoy the flexibility in drawing that lettering separately gives me. Instead of ruling lettering guides down and painfully penciling and inking the dialog before I drew anything, I now draw with a vague idea where text will be, then do the lettering on a separate sheet.

But I’d rather just do it all in Illustrator. It saves my hand from cramping as I ink over the penciled letters. Fortunately the next Wanderlost story will have less dialog. And the one after that hardly any dialog at all. (Even though I am letting the pig speak, he really doesn’t want to.) I’d rather save my hand for drawing and more adventurous lettering, like sound effects.

It is in color. It’s not the best page. It’s not the worst. Actually, I think the dialog is funny. Ma Pig cracks me up. And Dr. Knott is a nut. But I do regret putting Ma in a polka-dot dress. It’s no problem drawing those circles, but filling them in with yellow is tedious.

Such is my lame attempt at writing production notes. Really, whaddya wanna know? I drew it, scanned it, colored it. Ta-da!

, I succumbed to inexplicable fatigue this weekend. I was okay on Saturday - entertaining Owen with dinosaurs, pancakes and ice cream - but Sunday I just wanted to stay in bed all day. I got the evening after Jenn came home from work. I would have let her rest after her crazy long week of moving to a new oncology facility, yet she insisted I do it based on her quick read of my visible symptoms: “You look like shit, go to bed.”

I feel better now. The wrist and thumb have these pin-prickly sensations. I’m resting the hand as much as possible. I have to masturbate with my feet.

Don’t worry, this took two minutes with a Sharpie. Otherwise I am typing left-handed, scanning, all the rest of it. The right hand is laying back on a beach in the Mediterranean, sipping a tall, cool drink and thinking about snorkling topless. (That’s right, my hand has boobs.)
